The last few weeks their has been quite a few rumours and speculations saying Spotify´s mobile iPhone App had or was going to be denied from Apple App-store. But today Spotify confirms it has been accepted into Apple App store.
First to break the news was paidContent.org and it was later confirmed by Spotify on twitter saying:
“Yes, I can confirm that Apple has approved the app. We’re happy but have had a great dialogue with Apple all the way. They’ve been great!”
paidContent.org also got the following quote from an Apple spokeperson:
“The current status as of right now is it’s been approved and we hope to add the app to the more than 65,000 apps on the app store very soon. We’ve been in constant communication working with the developer and have already notified Spotify that the app will be in the app store very soon.”
This means that the Spotify iPhone App will be avalible for anyone with an iPhone very soon. And this may very well be a real gamechanger for the music business since their won’t ge a reason to buy digital music anymore, atleast the iPhone ownes for starters.
Lets keep our fingers crossed that Spotify will keep pushing out mobile applications for other applications. An Android version should be the next in line.

During the beginning of the week a rumour that Spotify´s iPhone App had been rejected from Apples´s App store spread quickly on twitter and other social network sites. The rejection of Spotify´s iPhone App would supposedly be because Apple saw Spotify as a direct competitor to iTunes music store. But quickly Spotify denied the rumour saying that they only have been in contact with Apple once since the App was submitted, and that was to go over some technical details.
“Twitter, right? We’ve also been reading Tweets claiming the exact opposite. Absolutely nothing in it – we’ve still to hear back from Apple. We ran over some technical questions with them the other week but that’s as far as it’s gone. We’re as eager to hear back as you are!”
